Dog and soldier reunions are always heartwarming. Pups miss their owners so much, and they can never contain their joy when their owner finally walks through the door again.
A bull mastiff named Jackson is no exception to this.
He loves his owner Jason and he’s thrilled when Jason finally comes home again after finishing basic army traing.
The dog couldn’t control his feelings when Jason got home.
This bullmastiff was very much excited to see Jason again, to put it mildly. We see a 160 lb dog beside himself with joy as he jumps at Jason and begins cuddling.
Jason has just come back home after spending six months at an army camp where he attended basic army training.
“I’ve never expected him to react the way that he did. We knew he would be excited but it was just the sweetest thing and it was so emotional,” Jason’s mom said.
The bullmastiff’s name is Jackson and he is 18 months old. Jackson did not react well to being separated from Jason. When Jason went off to training, his mom Lysa had to take drastic measures to keep Jackson’s spirits up.
Lysa put Jason’s shirt on pillows so that Jackson would have something to cuddle with while Jason was away.
Playing with Jason’s shirt had a calming effect on Jackson.
“It was such a calming effect on him”, Lysa remarked, “he would fall asleep next to it and it was the sweetest thing. I definitively wanted to do a big deal when he (Jason) came home and I never expected him to react the way that he did.”
On the day of Jason’s return, Lysa gave Jackson a little hint that he would soon reunite with his human sibling.
“I think he kind of knew it,” she said. Just moments before Jason’s return, Lysa teased Jackson and asked him whether he was ready for his surprise, and she took him to see Jason.
It was one of Jackson’s happiest days!
As we can see in the video, Jason was overwhelmed by the warm welcome he received from his canine. He could only smile while trying to avoid Jackson licking his face. Both of them will remember the reunion for a long time!
Jackson may be a big pup, but we can only say that he’s a big softie inside.
Watching him explode with joy when seeing Jason for the first time in months was extremely cute. We couldn’t get enough of watching the two.
Jackson is a sweet pup who’s clearly 160 pounds of pure love. It’s so wonderful to see how he responds to Jason, and we’re sure these two have many happy years ahead of them.
