Even the largest dogs seem convinced they were made to be lap dogs! They just can’t resist curling up like they did as pups.
Ironically, it’s the big dogs who think they’re tiny, while the little ones act like giants.
Bed or butt cushion?

You know, he could have used it as a pillow—that would’ve made some sense.
But for some reason, big dogs often try to squeeze into tiny beds, even when their own bed is perfectly available.
Maybe they just haven’t noticed how much they’ve grown.
Or maybe, just maybe, they find extra comfort in a bed that’s been “approved” by their fearless little sibling.
Crate trained for life
We’re hoping this big guy can make a smooth exit!
Dogs often retreat to crates when they’re feeling anxious — and if this is the only one nearby, well… let’s hope the owner knows how to open it from the top!
Fingers crossed he’s just being a goofball and has a properly sized hideaway of his own.

Pick me
When you’re outnumbered by pups, some dogs will go above and beyond to steal the spotlight.
Even if they’re a little too big for your lap, they’ll gladly become a lap dog just to be close.
And honestly—who could possibly resist that face?

Let’s dance
Some folks love showing off their dog’s size by letting them put their paws up on their shoulders.
It’s cute—though maybe not the best idea unless your pup knows when it’s okay and remembers not to try it with strangers.
Still, you can’t help but adore this big hunk of love who looks totally ready for a dance!

Big brothers
These two are both big boys, but something tells us that Saint Bernard is still just a pup.
The real fun begins when he grows up even more—and still insists on cuddling just like this!

The great crate
If you’re inside the fenced-in area, you’re officially fair game to become a dog bed.
We’d say this girl is pretty lucky — just look at all that love piled on!

Is there room for me?
This is not a question a dog ever stops to consider.
Of course there’s room! And if there isn’t, they’ll make it.
After all, if the little dog gets a spot on the bed, there’s no way the big one’s just going to sit back and watch!

Baby of the family
If you’re always fussing over whatever’s in the car seat, don’t be surprised when someone else wants a turn there too—your way-too-big-for-a-car-seat dog, of course.

Jowl-sized knee
Didn’t you know? Your entire knee is the ideal spot for half of a giant dog face.
Saint Bernards are pretty massive even as puppies, so we’re guessing this sweet fluff has had couch privileges from the very beginning.

Mom, carry me
You’ve got to be careful when taking your dog on a long hike.
They’re like toddlers—don’t take them anywhere you’re not prepared to carry them!

Let’s play
Big dogs can sometimes cause problems when playing with smaller animals, simply because they don’t always know their own strength.
But most of the time, they’re gentle giants — or at least, they can be with the right training.

Dad’s lap dog
Looks like someone will always be daddy’s baby.
We can’t get enough of the dirty look this pup is giving the photographer—it’s like they’re saying, “Don’t you dare laugh at me.”

My throne
This Irish Wolfhound definitely outgrew this little chair ages ago.
But clearly, he hasn’t noticed—and he’s still perfectly content using it for naptime.

What’s the difference?
Big dogs won’t let themselves be left out of anything — especially when something exciting’s happening outside the window.
So, make sure your furniture is sturdy enough to handle their enthusiasm!

Butts up high

Growing up
Here’s the difference between 8 weeks and 24 weeks for this pup.
Clearly, that’s not enough time to learn that size really does matter!

Seat warmer
Ever wondered if you’re just a glorified seat warmer for your dog?
They could sit in the chair by themselves, but it might be cold—while you’re always nice and warm.
You’re basically a necessary layer.

Devotion
Our hearts are melting over this K9 unit and their handler settling down for a nap.
You’ve got to catch some sleep whenever you can — and in whatever position works!

If I fits, I…oh…
He’s not thrilled, but he’ll sit in it anyway.
We’re pretty sure this bed isn’t his, but if it is, we’d be just as annoyed with our parents!

Reserved seating
Leather can feel nice and cool on a warm day if it’s out of the sun, so maybe he’s just trying to regulate his body temperature.
Or maybe he really just hates it when his owner is on that chair.

Like a wrist protector, but not
Cats are known for this, but this dog has taken computer assistance to the next level.
And Hank is big enough to claim that spot without being bothered by any weak typing attempts, so why not?
He’s found his perfect napping spot—and he’s not giving it up!

Redefining the lap
Big dogs should come with that truck backup beep – you know, the one that warns people a large vehicle might be heading straight for them.
On second thought, never mind.
With a big dog, you always know they’re coming right at you!

Look at me, I’m laundry
We’re really hoping that wasn’t clean.
But let’s be honest, we all know it probably was.

Couch bear
Whoa, that’s one enormous dog!
Do you think it’s trying to get this guy off the couch, or is it just sitting down to make some polite conversation with the houseguest?

Fluffy puppy
He might still be a puppy, but he’s definitely not sized like one.
Still, he’s more than happy to be treated like one and pampered just the same!

Hello fellow kids
Always invite your giant dog to the pool party.
They’re going to show up regardless, so you might as well avoid the awkwardness!

Sir, your bath is ready
We all know what happened when this big fluffer plopped into the pool.
Good thing the pool “boy” is standing by to keep adding more water—it’s about to get seriously displaced!

Hi mom
Moms can’t catch a break from their kids — even their fur babies.
Once you’re a mom, you have to get used to your “little” ones climbing all over you.
You’re not just a superhero—you’re also a seat!

It’s the escape we’re worried about
Dogs can squeeze into all sorts of spaces if they’re looking for comfort and a sense of security.
But we’re really curious about how this pup managed to make its way out of that leather safety fort!

Look, I’m a parrot!
Don’t tell me you’ve never heard of a shoulder dog. It’s totally a thing!
Okay, maybe it’s not, but we’re going along with it for this pup’s sake.
And honestly, we think they’re making it work just fine!

Loveseat loafing
Anyone with a loveseat and a Great Dane knows they might as well say goodbye to that piece of furniture.
Even though they’re way too big for it, they’ve decided it’s the perfect size.
Good luck trying to argue with them!

Everybody in!
You can buy the biggest bed out there, but that doesn’t mean you’ll get any space to yourself.
Training dogs of any size early—and sticking to the rule of never letting them in— is key.
Otherwise, don’t expect your doctor to be much help with your insomnia!

How much is his fare?
Almost everyone loves seeing a dog on the train.
And this is one seriously good boy who knows exactly how to behave like a pro.

What a day!
We’ve all had those days when we just need to come home and collapse!
This big fuzzy doodle found the perfect piece of furniture to dramatically flop onto.

Hello friend
Are you food or friend? We love the way these two are sizing each other up…we think.
Hopefully, that’s not aggression we’re seeing, because we have a feeling we know who’s going to win.
It’s going to be tough for that little guy to give the big one a “traditional” doggie greeting!
