On a farm in South Korea, a goose defiantly honks at everyone who walks close to him and his brother.
Why is the goose acting so harshly towards anyone? And why does his brother not fight back? The answer became apparent when the goose on the ground revealed a strange S-shaped curve on its neck. Because of this deformity, Juju lost his ability to stand and walk properly. This stopped him from foraging, escaping, and even flying.
Juju wouldn’t have stood a chance in this world, but his brother Lulu won’t let that happen so easily.
As Juju helplessly flailed his feet around, Lulu always stood close by to protect his brother. He chases off everyone – cats, roosters, hens, and even the TV producers.
He only allows one person to carry his brother: a middle-aged woman who has been taking care of them and other farm animals. Lulu follows wherever the lady takes Juju. And when she puts her in a lined crate, Lulu always stands guard.
Juju wasn’t always like this.
He was a normal goose in his younger years, until one day, his neck turned and he fell backward. He collapsed on the dirt and was never able to get up since then. Their owner tried to get him fixed but people just dismissed his case as hopeless.
She didn’t give up though, and neither did Lulu.
As their owner scoured resources on how to help her goose, Lulu vigilantly looked after his brother. The two of them have always been close, but after the incident, Lulu has stayed beside Juju much more often. He would open his wings and threaten other animals whenever they walk close to them.
There would be good days when Juju succeeds in standing up by himself. During these days, Juju walks around the yard like he used to. Whenever he falls, however, Lulu would always seem worried. But instead of calling out for help, Lulu honks and nudges his head against Juju to cheer him on.
With wobbly legs and shaky feet, he succeeds in getting back up.
Meanwhile, their owner made a box where she could feed Juju upright. It’s made of a discarded styrofoam box with cuts and holes where Juju can put his neck and legs into. This gives him a comfortable way to eat especially when he’s unable to do it on his own.
On some days, when the rain gets the two of them, their owner gives them a warm bath and blow-dries their feathers. Juju might be injured, but he has been receiving a lot of love.
But it leaves the question: Will Juju go back to how he once was?
That question was answered when their owner took him to a veterinarian. Fortunately for Juju, his case wasn’t as hopeless as they first thought. After a detailed examination, they determined that Juju doesn’t have any diseases.
This meant that he only needs to recover his physical strength so he could undergo surgery.
There’s no doubt that he’ll be ready, most especially that he has a caring owner who looks after him and a loving brother that is always beside him.
Watch how the love of these two brothers strengthened the resolve of one to recover.
