Boxers are a special kind of dog. As described by the AKC:
Loyalty, affection, intelligence, work ethic, and good looks: Boxers are the whole doggy package. Bright and alert, sometimes silly, but always courageous, the Boxer has been among America’s most popular dog breeds for a very long time.
… we don’t disagree! They are so silly, even with all their muscles and athleticism. You can’t help but laugh at them when they have zoomies around the house or when they feel the need to protect the house from any squirrels who dare get too close.
1. Family dog
If you want a great family dog, Boxers are an easy choice. Obviously, follow all the guidelines when having a dog around a baby, but odds are your baby will have gained a loving protector from the moment they meet.
2. Playtime
If you ever need someone to lift your mood and play a little, a Boxer is the man (dog?) for the job. They are ALWAYS down to play, all day, every day. Trust us.

3. Goofballs
Some dogs are regal and elegant, some are poised and secure. Boxers are just plain goofy! Despite what their false reputation may lead some to believe, these dogs are so incredibly goofy you won’t ever had a day without a smile.
4. Best friends
A best friend is someone who is down to hang out, any time or place. If you are looking for a best friend for life, Boxers are the easy choice. They just want to be with you ALL the time.

5. Patience
If you’ve ever had a little kid in the house, you know that patience is key. It just takes more time to do things when you have a baby around. Incredibly, Boxers seem to know too.
6. They have your back
In a Boxers mind, the entire world will have to go through them to get to you. If they add you to their “circle of trust” they will literally lay their life down for you.
7. They love their families
The heart of the Boxer has one word written on it: Family. They will do anything for the ones they love. If you can’t find your dog, go look in their favorite snuggle spot. Odds are they are with the kids taking a nap.
8. They want love
The AKC says:
“The Boxer’s most notable characteristic is his desire for human affection.”
We second that notion!
9. Wants to meet everyone
You can’t go for a walk with a Boxer unless you are ok meeting people. Humans seem to be drawn to people and people seem to be drawn them!
10. Happiest with his friends
These natural protectors are happy when they are with those they love.
“The Boxer is happiest when he is with people—especially children, watching protectively over their play.”
Think of them as older siblings!
11. Good for every stage of life
Whether you have a newborn on the way or are sending them off to their first day of school, a Boxer is a loyal friend and watcher through it all.
“He is truly a ‘dog for all seasons,’ suiting the need for household guardian, attractive companion, and children’s playmate and loyal friend.”
12. They are talented!
Many dogs are bred for specific things. Boxers are pretty much good at whatever they try!
“Other breeds have pronounced specialized talents … but for a combination of the outstanding virtues of many with the faults of a few, our Boxer is the most gifted of canines.”
13. The jack of all trades
Similiar to the last one, the Boxer is the all-around solid choice. From physical attributes to temperament, Boxers are amazing.
“For the man, woman or child who wants an all-round dog, he has no equal. No other dog is more individual in appearance, more keenly intelligent or sanely even-tempered. These virtues alone are priceless if the dog is to become part of his master’s family, which he should for the well-being of all concerned.”
14. Will FORCE themselves into your heart
We’ve all heard jokes about the dad who doesn’t want a dog becoming best friends with them? That’s basically a Boxers MO.
15. They have an amazing history
They originally were bred from the Assyrians and were powerful and brace dogs used in war. That pedigree is still in their blood today!
16. They do well in dog shows
Boxers have won Best in Show a few times over the years!
The breed has won Best in Show at Westminster four times, in 1947, 1949, 1951, and 1970. – AKC
You might have a showdog on your hands!
17. Lovers, not fighters
There is a rumor that Boxers are aggressive, but that probably comes from their appearance and their history as powerful hunters. They are much more interested in cuddles.
18. They make great service dogs
Because of their intelligence, determination, and agility, Boxers make great service dogs. Their “all-around awesomeness” attributes to this.
19. They were paired with famous movie stars!
“Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall were both dog lovers. They received their first Boxer, Harvey, as a wedding gift, and he appeared in many of their publicity photos. They acquired two more Boxers, Baby and George, as well.”
20. You will die laughing
They somehow know exactly how to get a laugh out of you. You quite literally can’t stay angry or upset around a Boxer who loves you.

21. Lady magnet
Need a way to ask girls out since all the bars are closed? Get a Boxer puppy. You will have too many phone numbers to handle after a walk around the park.

22. Curiosity abounds
These pups are forever curious. Anything out of place or attention-grabbing is sure to bring them over for a thorough examination. Yes, even a Yoda figure.

23. Explorers at heart
Need someone to explore the Great Outdoors with you? Boxers love being outside and romping around. They have lots of energy, and a hike is a good way to get it out of them.

24. They are polite
On the phone and your dog needs something? They will wait till you are finished and ask you politely… just kidding! They do sometimes act polite to get what they want, however!

25. Beach buddies
As we near summer, the beach days get closer and closer. Boxers love to play in the sand and water, making them perfect as beach buddies!

26. House watchers
While they might not do anything about an individual approaching the house, they will usually let you know about it! They aren’t always vocal but have a history as guard dogs.

27. Gentle giants
As far as dog breeds go, Boxers are on the bigger side. With males getting up to 70 lbs, they aren’t a “lap dog” per say. Despite their size, they are incredibly gentle.

28. Get along with other animals
Not all dogs get along with other animals in the house. Boxers, if properly acclimated, make great friends with so many different breeds. From cows to chickens, nobody can escape their friendship.

29. They are stylish
When you dress a Boxer up, they can look quite dashing! They have good lines and angles, making them good models for doggy outfits.

30. They are great chefs!
Give a boxer a spatula and a grill and watch the magic happen.
Well, we might have lied about this one but come one, this video is hilarious!

31. Sleepy heads
If you like a good afternoon nap, a Boxer is always willing to join in! They want snuggles and pets whenever they can get them.

32. Just plain cool
Certain breeds have a suave about them. Boxers definitely pass the vibe check and are as cool as a cucumber.
https://www.instagram.com/p/BvKRyK8h1Bq/
33. Self-aware
This little pup seems to have found out that another dog lives in the house! We don’t doubt that he will soon realize that he exists.”I think, therefore, I am” translates to “I eats, therefore, I am” for dogs.
https://www.instagram.com/p/BueXb2Qh7WW/
34. Sleeping beauties
You never know how a Boxer will fall asleep. What you CAN be sure of is it won’t be in a cute position! They seem to fall asleep in the most uncomfortable positions imaginable.

35. Drinking buddies
Well, not for real. Please don’t give alcohol to your dog! This hilarious pic just looks like he had a bit too much and is gonna have a rough day at work tomorrow.

After that amazing presentation, you have to have fallen in love with Boxers! They are such amazing dogs and deserve all the love that we can give them.
